Josh Peterson

It is our pleasure to announce that starting August 12th, Josh Peterson will be joining us for the 2025 Pilgrim Shaping Residency. Josh’s exceptional craftsmanship is a proud product of East Coast board building. His practice began first at WRV in Virginia, after which he shaped out of New Jersey for a number of years before committing himself steadfastly to his own label, Peterson Surfcraft, first based in the Outer Banks. Josh has since graduated to the North Shore of Hawaii where his work has been under the informed feet of Noa Mizuno, Flynn Novack, and Simon Hetrick among many others. Having learned under the tutelage of Jeff Bushman, Josh’s work is a unique rendition of classic Pacific coast shapes with East Coast sensibilities at their core. Up and coming east coast shapers from Rhode Island to North Carolina continually credit Josh as an enduring source of inspiration. New Jersey’s Tommy George of the well-respected Eye of the Sun Surfboards recently said, “Josh is that guy. He’s the most technically skilled start to finish board builder in America.”
