Richard Kenvin’s history-design research project,
Hydrodynamica, investigates and expands on
Bob Simmons’s groundbreaking planing hull
experiments in the mid 20th century.
Simmons was experimenting with highly efficient,
twin finned shapes based on the principles of
hydrodynamics laid out in texts like Lindsay Lord’s
The Naval Architecture of Planing Hulls.
Hydrodynamica’s shapes maximize lift and glide:
they are high performing boards, groveling
as well as they handle overhead drainers.
This is an example of the types of boards we carry from this shaper.
